At the lodge
Upon stepping into 2B Happy Backpackers Lodge, you will be thoroughly briefed as to who we are, what there is to see and do, and security procedures. Please feel free to flood us with questions on anything you feel unsure, uncertain or not comfortable with.
You will receive both your individual storage closet and food storage locker. We do require a small deposit from you for the benefit of receiving your own keys, this is 100% refundable upon return.
Never leave your valuable belongings & luggage unattended.
Store your valuables in your dedicated locked cupboard.
You are also entitled to make use of our safe at reception but ensure you acquire a written inventory of the exact items you have deposited in the safe.
All those things your mum told you about strangers – remember them. Do not entertain the advances of undesirable, strange or suspicious guests. Report this immediately to management.
Ascertain the exact location of all fire extinguishers, located in the kitchen; panic buttons, of which there are one in every single room of the lodge, yes even the bathroom; and your proximity to them.
Inform reception immediately should you lose or misplace your keys.
Ensure your valuables are locked away before retiring for the night.
You would also have noticed we have an electronic gate motor as well as electric fencing which are linked to our local alarm response system and they are renowned for their speedy response time.
We also have a CCTV (closed circuit television) system installed outside, which is monitored 24 hours a day, so either entering or leaving the lodge, we’ll always keep an eye on you.
Procedure upon your 1st arrival and your comings & goings during your stay
2B Happy is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and our doors are always open welcoming you any time of the day and night. However in saying this, it is recommended that you advise us in advance of your arrival date and time.
If possible, please advise us of your route beforehand, and approximately what time we may expect you back. Please do not think we are placing a curfew on your stay, we would only like to be rest assured of your whereabouts.
You will also not be receiving a gate remote. Ask the staff on duty for assistance to open the gate on your departure and arrival. This will ensure we are informed of who comes and goes at all hours.
Always be aware of your surroundings and stay alert.

In the streets
It is definitely not advisable to carry large sums of money and/or travellers cheques around. Carry enough cash on you that you would need for that particular day or night and keep some of it in a different place to the rest, such as your jeans pocket or perhaps even inside your socks. One of the most targeted areas are money belts.
Avoid flamboyant displays of expensive jewellery, cameras and other valuables .
Use credit cards (most major international credit cards are widely accepted) instead of cash.
If possible, plan your route beforehand.
Where possible, explore the streets in groups and stick to well-lit, busy streets.
At night, steer clear of dark and isolated areas.
Don’t be afraid, just be sensible. There are a lot of fun things to do and some great adventures waiting.
