If you’re planning on going travelling for any length of time then unless you have very wealthy and generous parents or stacks of cash you’re probably going to need to find work at some point. Finding work when you’re a traveller can be difficult so we’ve put together a list of the top 5 jobs for people on the road.

Blogging

Did you know that you could make quite a bit of money blogging online if you gain a good reputation as a blogger and a large following?  If you fancy yourself as a bit of a wordsmith then why not set up a travel blog.  Once you’re established you can advertisements to your blog and bring in quite a bit of revenue there, you may also be lucky enough to receive a few freebies on your travels as a perk of the job!

Fruit picking

Seasonal work is great if you’re only looking for something temporary as you pass through an area.  You’ll get to enjoy the sunshine by working outside but the hours can be long so be prepared to put in some hard work!

Bar work

Wherever you travel in the world you can almost always rely on bar work for a bit of extra cash.  As long as you don’t mind working long, unsociable hours then bar work is pretty easy to pick up and can be a great way to meet new people in a fun environment.

Freelance work

If you’re skilled in a job like blogging, copywriting, graphic design or computer programing then you could take your work on your travels by going freelance!

Teaching English

Teaching English in countries where it is not the first language can be a very rewarding job.  You’ll find that there are plenty of vacancies for this kind of work around the world, but particularly in Asian countries.
