So you’re going on a backpacking holiday. Everything’s booked and you’re ready to see the world. Only thing left to do is pack.
You’ve got your clothes, money, documents etc but what else do you need?
To help you finish packing we’ve put together a list of 6 things that every backpacker needs to take with them!
Travel pillow – Travelling can be pretty uncomfortable. A bumpy train ride, a rocking ferry, turbulent flight. It’s always a good idea to take something you can rest your head on to get the much needed shut eye.
A blow up travel pillow is a must.
Ear plugs – And whilst we’re on the subject of comfort, hostels can be noisy at night. So if you’ve had a long day of travelling and really need sleep, you’ll want to block out the noise. Ear plugs are the perfect solution.
A small umbrella – You could be going to a notoriously hot place. But you never know when it might rain. Mother nature is pretty unpredictable. So take a compact umbrella with you. You’ll be glad of it when you’re stuck outside a train station in the torrential downpour.
First aid kits – Your safety is paramount. And being hurt in a place you don’t know can be scary. So take a first aid kit to plaster up a cut knee, or pain killers to shut out your hangover headache.
Guide books – There’s nothing worse than getting to a new city and not being able to find your hostel, or the famous landmark everyone has recommended. So pick up some small guide books and maps of your destinations so that you can find your way around when you get there.
A padlock – Most hostels have lockers to keep your belongings in. But they don’t always provide the padlocks to secure them. So make sure you take your own. Because you don’t want to have to lumber your backpack around the city, do you?
