To help ensure that your airport experience is an easy one we’ve put together a quick guide on things you shouldn’t do.
Leave liquids in your hand luggage
This is a super simple one to remember, but one that so many people often forget. Leaving liquids and gels in your hand luggage is a sure-fire way to slow down the security line. If you have bought travel sized liquids place them in a small plastic, transparent bag at the top. This way, if there is a problem, they can be grabbed quickly.
Get drunk
Many people need a bit of ‘Dutch courage’ to get them on-board a plane and through the flight. And one glass isn’t necessarily the end of the world. But getting super drunk before you board isn’t the wisest idea. Some flights are allowed to breathalyse you. Plus, you’ll want to keep a clear head just in case there are any big gate changes.
Lose your temper
Airport security has increased in a serious way in recent years and they are more than happy to remove anyone whose temper is getting out of hand. Don’t scream at airport staff because you turned up late for a flight either, if they say there’s nothing they can do to help, it’s usually the case.
Fall to sleep
Okay – this isn’t something you should always avoid. But if you’re waiting for a connecting flight, it isn’t always a good idea to have your 20 minute nap. It could easily turn into a 40 minute nap and mean you miss the flight.
If you are going to get some sleep in, make sure that whoever you’re with stay awake or that you set a very loud alarm to bring you out of the land of nod.
Remember: airport rules are all about common sense. Just don’t do anything to out of the ordinary and don’t scream at people and you should be fine.
